3M 8901

3M 8901 is made with strong polyester backing and silicone adhesive, allowing it to be used in applications requiring high temperatures or adhesion to silicone-treated surfaces.

This tape family offers a range of backing thicknesses to accommodate application needs from thin tape for splicing to thicker, stronger tape for pulling through flashing or multiple layers.

3M 8901 Features

Works in demanding conditions and high temperatures ranging from -60ºF (-50ºC) to 400ºF (204ºC)
Clean removal during high-temperature masking operations such as powder coating
The polyester film offers excellent thermal and chemical resistance while maintaining flexibility
Silicone adhesive provides clean removal from a variety of surfaces
Translucent blue backing provides easy identification and positioning
Polyester films offer excellent thermal, abrasion, and chemical resistance while maintaining their flexibility.
Silicone adhesives offer high heat resistance compared to many rubber and acrylic adhesives, reducing failure due to softening, oozing, and adhesive transfer.
Silicone adhesives adhere well to tough-to-stick-to surfaces like silicone liners and fixtures coated with mold release.
Removes cleanly from stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and glass after 5 hours. bake cycle at 350°F (177°C).
A variety of tape thicknesses offered allows uses for multiple applications.

Holding parts or sealing vacuum bags during processing
Masking edges of overlap seams in metal bonding process where excess adhesive flows onto tape. Minimizes clean-up on tape removal.
Composite bonding – sticks well to molds treated with a release agent, works as a flash breaker tape on the removal of the part from the mold, and seals vacuum bags if vacuum bag treatment is part of the process.
Provides a good barrier to the separation of dissimilar metals.
